2012 Sauvignon Blanc
A pale straw-colored wine with initial bright citrus aromatics. The nose hides layers of lemon rind, moist slate and fresh cut green grass. The palate is crisp and dry with hints of stone fruits, white peach and green apple. Lees stirring gives this wine definition and weight in the mid palate. Hints of tropical fruits and citrus balance out the vanilla and minerality to tantalize your senses with this elegant wine.

After two challenging, cool years, the vintage of 2012 was an ideal growing season giving us a bountiful crop and excellent wines. The very pleasant weather gave us warm, sunny days and cool nights allowing the fruit enough hang time to develop complex flavors and textures. August proved to be a bit warmer than normal, helping to ripen the grapes and provide some well-balanced flavors and chemistry. The low juice yields allowed for better depth and concentration.
Star Lane Vineyard is located on the eastern end of the Santa Ynez Valley under the appellation of Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara. The vineyard, which is planted in the southernmost end of the ranch, experiences a marine influence. The soil is comprised of a mixture of gravely loam, sand, gravel, and alluvial cobbles over a clay loam subsoil that aids in producing rich flavors with a refreshing minerality
The citrus and grassy notes along with the crisp acidity of this Sauvignon Blanc make it a great addition to a meal of tomato soup or fish and chips. This wine also does well when paired with a variety of vegetables like salads with asparagus, green peppers, fried zucchini flowers and herbs.
