2013 Cabernet Sauvignon
This is a beautifully deep colored wine with a nose of fresh boysenberry, black currant, tobacco, and clove, which is complemented with hints of vanilla and cassis. The dusty tannins provide a backdrop for the dark fruits and density of this wine. The complexity of the flavors on the palate lead to an elegant, lengthy finish which defines the balance in this wine.

The vintage of 2013 proved to be the highest quality vintage thus far for Kitá Wines. It’s amazing to see two consecutive vintages of amazing quality and a second year of ideal growing conditions. Yields were back to normal after the high-yielding vintage of 2012. We saw great weather conditions during the growing season and a balanced crop load which led to an outstanding vintage. The moderate weather conditions put little pressure on the vines and produced grapes with well-balanced chemistries. Although the harvest was compressed with everything ripening at once, the consecutive dry year produced low to average yields with smaller berries. The high skin-to-juice ratios produced more intense colors and flavors. The wines in barrel showed great richness, depth, and balance in their infancy which proved to show signs of an excellent vintage.
Camp 4 Vineyard is situated on the eastern most edge of the Santa Ynez Valley and serves as the gateway into Happy Canyon. The vineyard is home to 19 varietals focusing on Rhone and Bordeaux, providing an ideal microclimate with a long growing season and maximum flavor development. The sandy-loam soil aids in producing high quality wine grapes.
We pride our vineyard on the perfect balance of quality and quantity and the focus on sustainable farming.
Strong flavors of black currant, clove, and vanilla along with a finish that lingers makes this Santa Ynez Valley Cabernet Sauvignon a winner for the main course of any meal. There will be no disappointment in pairing this wine with grilled steak with salsa verde, a beef stir-fry, or even for the vegetarian palate, a nice fried tofu with spicy ginger-sesame sauce.
