“Abalone Shell” in the native Chumash language of Samala.

This southern Rhone style blend of Marsanne, Roussanne, and Grenache Blanc highlights bright aromatics of zesty citrus, Asian pear, and honeysuckle with hints of chamomile and white peach. The mid-palate is a perfect balance of acidity, oily minerality, and rich creamy flavors. On the palate this wine shows a dynamic contrast of salinity mixed with bright acidity that showcases the layers of vanilla bean, white orchid, beeswax, and stone fruits. The freshness and intricacies from lees aging provides a depth through the entire finish.

The vintage of 2018 started with a mild winter which caused the vines to come out of their dormancy towards the end of March, beginning of April. A mild frost season of only 2-3 cold nights post bud bread lead to an ideal bloom. A decrease in rain from 2017 with a total of over 8 inches but also limited wind, translated to a successful and strong fruit set across all varietals at Camp 4 vineyard. Cooler summer and fall seasons elongated the growing season and pushed harvest back, reminding us of our inaugural vintage of 2010. This extended harvest allowed the fruit to produce balanced chemistry and vibrant aromatic profiles. The grapes of the 2018 vintage are showing extremely high potential with great depth, concentration, and balance.


Camp 4 Vineyard is situated on the eastern most edge of the Santa Ynez Valley and serves as the gateway into Happy Canyon. The vineyard is home to 18 varietals focusing on Rhone and Bordeaux, providing an ideal micro-climate with a long growing season and maximum flavor development. The sandy-loam soil aids in producing high quality wine grapes. We pride our vineyard on the perfect balance of quality and quantity with the focus on sustainable farming.


Complex flavors in this white Rhone blend make it a dream to pair with spicy Asian and vegetarian cuisine. We especially love this wine paired with fried goat cheese medallions on spring salad alongside Mediterranean chicken. This wine also pairs beautifully with shellfish, mushroom risotto, and even pear tart.
